佐分利豊さん（千葉商科大学）から、「ブッシュ大統領とブレア首相が２００２年度
のノーベル平和賞に推薦された」というウォールストリートジャーナルの記事と、それ
に対するジョイスという人のコメントを含むE_mail が転送されてきました。私の英和翻
訳システムにかけてみました。コンピュータが出力する訳文にはいろいろ誤りがあるの

That's probably how Henry Kissinger got nominated back when he deceived the
North Vietnamese into signing a peace treaty, falsely promising them that the
US would give them $4 billion dollars in war reparations if they complied.

have been nominated for the 2002 Nobel Peace Prize for fighting terrorism and
securing world peace, a Norwegian lawmaker announced Monday.

said he has nominated the two leaders for the coveted peace prize, despite
their role in ordering war in Afghanistan.

思い起こせば４０年前、私がまだ高校生だった時、私の高校の世界史の教員をしていた
谷口先生という方が、「太平洋戦争はアメリカの陰謀だった。当時のアメリカ合衆国の
ハル国務長官が、日本がとうてい呑む事ができない条件を書き連ねた『ハル・ノート』
という最後通牒を突きつけて、日本政府を開戦に追い込んだのだ。その戦争の張本人の
ハルが太平洋戦争の功績でノーベル平和賞をもらっているのだから、ノーベル平和賞な
んていいかげんなものだ。」と世界史の授業の中で強調しておられました。その後の４０
年間に、私も自分なりに現代史を勉強して、谷口先生の説も一理あるな、と思える事実を
いくつも知りました。まあ、日本の佐藤栄作総理が沖縄の基地付き核隠し返還を数百億ド
ル（？）の裏金で実現したことでノーベル平和賞を頂いた例なんか、まだましな方じゃな
いでしょうか。
